17 families receive 100,000 som as part of social contract in Leilek

Some 17 families received 100,000 som each in Leilek district of Batken region as part of the social contract program, Turmush reports.

According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration, pilot projects on providing one-time social aid to low-income families have been selected and implemented with the support of the UN World Food Programme in Kyrgyzstan based on the social contract program on December 1, 2021-July 1,2022.

The Cabinet of Ministers on July 15, 2022 has adopted a resolution based on the social contract on providing social assistance.

As part of the resolution, 292 million som were allocated from state budget in 2022, and 1 billion 36 million some were allocated in 2023.

A special commission has selected 12,800 low-income families and handed over 100,000 som to each. A total of 14,985 families appealed to the program, including 12,800 families were chosen for participation in the program.

The families of the social contract in 2022-2023 participated in agricultural industry (71%), processing industry (16.4%), services (6.4%) and trade (6.2%). The projects are financed at the initiative of the President Sadyr Japarov.

The Ministry of Labor says 17,359 new jobs have been created within 2 years under the social contract.
