The first Belarusian-Uzbek Tourism Forum was held on September 13, at the President Hotel in Minsk, Belarus. This event brought together travel agents, trade unions, representatives from specialized ministries, and key business figures to discuss and advance tourism cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan.
The forum addressed several important aspects of tourism collaboration. Discussions included potential joint ventures, strategies for the professional development of tourism staff, and opportunities for expanding health tourism. Uzbekistan is notably ranked among the top ten countries for tourist service exports to Belarus.
In 2023, approximately 33,000 Uzbek citizens visited Belarus. The two countries maintain strong air connectivity, with five weekly flights operating between Minsk and Tashkent. The forum highlighted the enduring historical ties between Belarus and Uzbekistan and aimed to strengthen business interactions and regional cooperation in the tourism sector.
The forum was the fifth major business event between Belarus and Uzbekistan in 2024. It followed the second Uzbek-Belarusian Women’s Business Forum held in August. Additionally, during a recent official visit to Tashkent by a Belarusian parliamentary delegation, over 40 agreements were signed, including commercial contracts valued at more than BYN 140mn ($42.8mn).
