President's Administration recommends civil servants to use public transport twice a week in Bishkek

The initiative of the Bishkek mayor’s office concerning restrictions on using private cars by municipal employees was supported by President’s Administration, the mayor’s office said.

In May 2024, mayor Aibek Junushaliyev prohibited the municipal employees to use private cars while moving to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The relevant order was sent to the municipal agencies with recommendation on using public transport on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The initiative was introduced due to the need of monitoring and analysis to further improvement of transport situation in the city.

All municipal employees supported the initiative, the mayor’s office noted.

The law on civil service and municipal service says that the municipal employees must to perform their duties and official powers in good faith.
