Turkmenistan celebrates 33rd independence with $10.99bn in planned investments

Turkmenistan recently celebrated its 33rd independence anniversary, highlighting planned capital investments of TMT 38.5bn ($10.99bn) for the current year, which will be directed toward the development and modernization of industrial and social facilities.

The total allocation of investments for the construction of industrial facilities accounted for 67.8%, while social projects represented 32.2%. As a result, the revenue of the state budget increased due to economic reforms, innovative development, and a growing share of the private sector.

The vision of poet Magtymguly Fragi for a sovereign state is being implemented through projects initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Hero-Arkadag, and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

On September 27, President Berdimuhamedov attended a ceremony at the Monument of Independence in the capital and participated in a parade. The event featured military technology acquired by the armed forces, including land, sea, and air capabilities. Horse divisions from military and law enforcement also participated in the parade.

As a token of appreciation, the government presented President Berdimuhamedov with a racing horse of the Akhal-Teke breed, named Dovamly. Various sectors of the national economy were represented in a procession marking the anniversary.

Cultural performances included modern and national songs, and the event concluded with a fireworks display. Activities continued on September 28 at the international horse racing complex, featuring an exhibition of fine arts and horse races at various distances.

State awards were presented to military personnel and workers from different sectors. In the week leading up to the holiday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with foreign business representatives to discuss collaboration on economic projects, including those in sports and seed production.

A meeting of the Khalk Maslakhaty was held prior to the holiday to address state and political issues aimed at citizens’ welfare. Participants laid flowers at the monument to Magtymguly Fragi.

In his address, National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated that reforms under President Serdar Berdimuhamedov cover all areas of state and public life. Key economic indicators include a gross national product growth of 6.3%. The “Program of Social and Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2024” outlines plans for substantial investments in industrial and social infrastructure.

The president emphasized the importance of banking reforms and announced a planned increase in salaries, pensions, and grants by 10%. The meeting also addressed strategies for developing the financial market and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov called for the preparation of a development strategy for 2026 to 2052.

At the meeting, the President awarded the title of “Hero of Turkmenistan” and signed decrees for the country’s development. A sadaka was held at the Mosque of Spirituality of Turkmenbashi in honor of the anniversary. Ceremonies were conducted for granting citizenship and residence permits, with 1,146 individuals receiving citizenship and 134 residence permits issued.

The past week included events that reflect Turkmenistan’s development and achievements. Under President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s leadership, reforms continue to promote progress and enhance citizens’ welfare.
