Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Nurlan Baibazarov met with Nicolas Blanchet, head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission in Kazakhstan, to discuss cooperation and economic strategies.

During this recent visit, the IMF mission engaged with several key government bodies, including the Parliament, National Bank, Ministry of National Economy, and Ministry of Finance. These meetings aimed to assess the current economic landscape, review ongoing reforms, and outline measures to foster sustainable economic growth.

Baibazarov highlighted the positive economic trajectory, noting an acceleration to 3.7% growth over the first eight months of the year. He emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing budget policies, improving tax legislation, boosting investment appeal, and fostering entrepreneurship.

The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s strong partnership with the IMF, acknowledging the Fund’s vital role in the nation’s economic development. Blanchet, in response, stressed the importance of continuing structural reforms to achieve a sustainable growth target of 6%, which he deemed attainable. He also reaffirmed the IMF’s commitment to supporting Kazakhstan in its economic endeavors.
