A delegation from Turkmenistan participated in the annual international meeting held in Georgia as part of the United Nations World Tourism Day celebrations, according to a report from the Turkmen Embassy in Georgia.

The delegation, led by the head of the tourism department of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, joined representatives from various countries, including tourism ministers and other high-level officials. The central theme of the event was “Tourism and Peace.”

The forum featured remarks from the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili. Their speeches focused on the current global trends in the tourism sector and the importance of maintaining peace to support the industry’s future development.

Experts at the event highlighted that tourism can play a significant role in promoting peace and fostering mutual understanding between different nations and cultures. The discussions also touched on how tourism could contribute to reconciliation efforts in conflict-affected areas, reinforcing its importance as a tool for global cooperation.
