The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan and the International Organization for Migration presented results of the assessment of migration tendencies at the meeting in Bishkek.

According to the Ministry, the results show that a number of returning migrants continues to increase, which is in turn confirms the need for a complex migration policy based on the actual data.

The research established a growth of return migration is observed during the period from 2020 to April 2024, which shows a significant change in the migration structure.

In 2023, a number of returning migrants increased by 85% compared to the previous year. Osh, Batken and Chuy regions are in leading positions on the number of returning migrants.

A number of citizens, who plan to migrate again to the country where they returned from decreased twice, or 16% of respondents found it difficult to answer about their further plans, actually not knowing what to do next.
