President of Kyrgyz Football Union receives President of Asian Football Confederation

President of Kyrgyz Football Union receives President of Asian Football Confederation

President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa is on working visit in Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz Football Union (KFU) reported.

President of the Kyrgyz Football Union Kamchybek Tashiyev on October 22 met with President of the AFC to discuss issues of development of football in Kyrgyzstan.

Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa said that a football has a great importance for the society promoting unity and health of people. He also expressed hope for further and successful cooperation between the AFC and the KFU.

Tashiyev in turn noted that the Kyrgyz Football Union this year has launched 18 new projects aimed at improvement of conditions for football development in the country. They include reconstruction of the existing stadiums and construction of new sports facilities in the regions. By the end of this year, 12 facilities are expected to the commissioned.

“The recent achievements of the national teams and development of football infrastructure show that the KFU is actively working on the development of football in the country and sets ambitious goals for the near future,” Tashiyev said.

The AFC Chief noted that the efforts of the KFU to develop football infrastructure deserve attention. He will participate in the opening of two new infrastructure facilities – the National Football Academy and the training base of the Muras United football club.

“The national team of Kyrgyzstan won a ticket to the Asian Cup 2027, which was a historic achievement for the team. In addition, the team for the first time reached the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup, where it fights against strong opponents,” the head of AFC noted.

During the talks, other bilateral cooperation issues were discussed. The sides exchanged commemorative pennants and gifts.
