Uzbekistan-based cargo carrier Fly Khiva has announced the assignment of its own IATA code—2U—marking a milestone for the startup. The announcement was made by Farhad Mukhutdinov, the airline’s commercial director.

IATA (International Air Transport Association) uses two-letter codes to identify airlines within commercial transportation, booking systems, schedules, receipts, and communication networks. 

Previously, Fly Khiva operated under the code D3, which is also associated with the small Emirati carrier Daallo Airlines. IATA permits two airlines to share the same code as long as they operate different types of non-overlapping services.

Since launching its cargo operations in June 2024, Fly Khiva has utilized a single Boeing 767-300F and is poised to expand its fleet with an additional aircraft of the same model in the near future. The airline currently facilitates cargo flights between China and Europe, using the cargo airport in Navoi, Uzbekistan, as a central hub.

The assignment of the new IATA code is expected to enhance Fly Khiva’s operational capabilities and streamline its logistics, positioning the airline for future growth in the competitive cargo market.

In August, Fly Khiva received ACC3/RA3 status, permitting it to conduct cargo flights from Tashkent to the European Union. This accreditation allows the airline to carry cargo and mail from Tashkent International Airport (TAS) to multiple locations throughout Europe. This accomplishment comes after the airline was recently recognized as a Third Country Operator (TCO) by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
