Herat Electricity Company officials said more than 80 percent of the extension of the new 110 kV power line from Turkmenistan to Herat, Afghanistan, has been completed. After its final completion of the extension, the line will be connected to the Noorul Jihad substation. This was reported by the MIC of Turkmenistan.

It is noted that this update is a significant step forward in improving energy infrastructure in the region. The completion of the expansion of the transmission line will contribute to a reliable and efficient supply of electricity to meet the needs of the population of Herat.

Herat is one of the main commercial and industrial centers of the republic. Wider access to electricity for local producers will diversify industries and attract attention to the region from investors.

Ashgabat and Kabul are striving to double the supply of Turkmen electricity from 110 kV to 220 kV. Afghanistan is one of the long-time importers of Turkmen energy resources.
