Energy Minister proposes TBEA company to modernize old units of Bishkek thermal power plant
Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibrayev held bilateral meetings with the heads of a number of Chinese companies on cooperation in the energy sector during his visit to China, the Ministry of Energy reported.
The Minister of Energy held a working meeting with Qian Liuyu, the main shareholder of the Joint Kyrgyz-Chinese Society for the Construction of Hydropower. They discussed key aspects of the implementation of the project for the construction of a small hydroelectric power plant located behind the dam of the Papan Reservoir.
“The Minister of Energy emphasized the importance of this project and outlined a plan for completing construction work and commissioning the facility by December 2026,” the report says.
Ibrayev held a working meeting with Deputy Director General of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) Zhang Kai.
During the meeting, the Minister spoke about the need to speed up internal approval procedures for the launch of the 400 MW solar power plant construction project in Issyk-Kul region.
In turn, CNNC representatives familiarized the representatives of the Ministry of Energy with their ongoing projects, and expressed interest in developing uranium initiatives in Kyrgyzstan. Possible models of cooperation were considered, including issues of technology exchange, investment partnership and scientific and technical cooperation.
The delegation of the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan visited the Beijing Capital International Airport. The main purpose of the visit was to study the operating experience of a 26 MW solar power plant located on the airport territory.
As part of the trip, negotiations were held with the management of Sun Energy Co., which is currently implementing a 250 MW solar power plant construction project in Batken region.
During the discussions, the parties considered the current status of the project, the key stages of its implementation and possible measures to optimize the timing. Following the talks, a decision was made to speed up internal approval procedures and intensify work to complete the project on time.
The Kyrgyz delegation headed by Energy Minister Ibrayev held a meeting with the Chinese company China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), headed by Deputy General Director for Import and Export of Electromechanical Equipment Xue Zheyuan.
During the meeting, CMEC presented its projects to the Kyrgyz delegation and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.
Energy Minister T. Ibrayev held a bilateral meeting with General Manager for Foreign Cooperation of Shongfuyan Group Wu Cai in order to attract investment in the industry and develop green energy.
During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources. The company expressed interest in building a solar power plant. Minister T. Ibrayev provided information on the potential of green energy in Kyrgyzstan and expressed readiness to cooperate in the implementation of projects to provide the population with uninterruptible electricity.
In addition, a bilateral meeting was held with the Chinese company Winday. Current work in the industry and future plans were discussed with Yao Yikuan, General Director for the CIS, and Fu Wei, Technical Director for Renewable Energy.
The Minister also met with the representatives of Beyondsoft company. Director Linda Wang announced her interest in building a wind farm in Kyrgyzstan. The parties held talks on further close cooperation in the implementation of projects.
In addition, the Minister met with Li Bianchu, a member of the Board of Directors of TBEA, and studied its energy technologies. The company has been operating in the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan since 2008.
In his speech, the Minister noted that work is underway to build the Datka-Kemin power lines, and proposed modernizing the old units of the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant for the further production of additional thermal energy. He invited the company to take part in the projects of laying a 110 kV cable line and the airport of Jalal-Abad city.
The Minister of Energy T. Ibrayev visited the Chinese company COVEC CHINA OVTRSEAS ENGINEERING GROUP.
During a bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors Qu Tiangen, issues of the hydroelectric power plant were discussed. Following the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to cooperate on the proposal for launching hydroelectric power plant and small hydroelectric power plant projects.
Upon completion of his visit to China, the Energy Minister held a bilateral meeting with Chairman of the Board of MOLIN Energy Company Limited Yan Meng.
During the meeting, negotiations were held on deepening cooperation in the energy sector and the construction of wind and solar power plants.
