Kazakhstan’s manufacturing sector grew by 105.1% in the first half of the year, with mechanical engineering increasing by 9.4% and the mining and metallurgical complex growing by 8.3%, according to First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar’s report to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

President Tokayev met with Sklyar on August 2 to discuss ongoing industrial projects and support for domestic manufacturers.

The president was also briefed on advancements in the construction of oil and gas pipelines, gas processing facilities, and petrochemical plants. In the reporting period, Kazakhstan produced 44.7mn tons of oil and gas condensate, along with 30bn cubic meters of gas. By the end of the year, 128 settlements are anticipated to receive gas, raising the gasification level to 61.8%.

New infrastructure projects in transport and energy were highlighted, alongside preparations for the upcoming heating season. Efforts include the reconstruction and overhaul of 309 km of heat supply networks, with an investment of approximately 154 billion tenge. This year, major repairs are planned for 10 power units, 55 boilers, and 45 turbines, totaling KZT 327bn ($689.4mn).

Sklyar also informed the President about the Council’s initiatives to attract investments. Since its reorganization, the Council has resolved issues related to 77 investment projects, worth about $40bn. The focus remains on projects with high added value in mechanical engineering, food and chemical industries, mining and metallurgy, energy, and subsoil use.

President Tokayev emphasized the importance of these initiatives and instructed that efforts in these areas continue to ensure progress and development.
