Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic (KR) Taalaibek Ibraev held a meeting with General Director of OJSC «Central Asian Investment Holding» Oren Akhmet Muzhakhid. The main topic of discussion was the prospects for cooperation within the framework of the project for the construction of the Kazarmansky cascade of hydroelectric power stations on the Naryn River, the total capacity of which will be 912 MW. The cascade includes four hydroelectric power stations, and OJSC «Central Asian Investment Holding» has expressed interest in the construction of three of them: Ala-Buginskaya HPP (600 MW), Kara-Bulungskaya-1 HPP (149 MW) and Kara-Bulungskaya-2 HPP (163 MW). It is expected that the average annual electricity generation from these stations will be 3746.3 million kWh.
The implementation of this project is of strategic importance for Kyrgyzstan, since it will significantly increase electricity production, provide the population and enterprises with a stable energy supply, as well as create new jobs and increase tax revenues to the state budget, the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan notes.
Cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic and OJSC «Central Asian Investment Holding» has been going on for two years. Previously, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the joint implementation of an energy project, and then a Framework Agreement on the construction and operation of hydroelectric power plants. The company has already opened an office in Bishkek for closer interaction with the Ministry of Energy and transferred 11 million soms to the treasury for the construction of a cascade of hydroelectric power stations.
During the meeting, the parties signed a Protocol of Intent, the purpose of which is to develop an investment agreement, the necessary documentation and a feasibility study (feasibility study) for the construction project of the Kazarmansky cascade of hydroelectric power stations.
Let us recall that at the international economic forum «Issyk-Kul 2024» a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in the search for an investor for the implementation of a project for the construction of the Barracks cascade of hydroelectric power stations between the National Investment Agency under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and a Chinese company «Huahe International».
