A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Iran says that success in concluding a border agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan is an important step towards establishing peace and stability in the region.
IRNA reports that Esmaeil Baqaei, a spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on March 14 welcomed the signing of the border treaty between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan.
"Success in concluding this agreement is an important step towards establishing peace and stability in the region," Baqaei said.
While congratulating the two sides, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson reportedly described the success in concluding this agreement as an important step towards establishing peace and stability in the region, and considered it a confirmation of the effectiveness of diplomacy in resolving disputes between countries while observing and ensuring mutual respect and benefits.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Kyrgyz counterpart Sadyr Japarov signed the State Border Treaty to demarcate their shared borders on March 13 in Kyrgyzstan’s capital, Bishkek. The document seeks to end a long-running border dispute that has left dozens dead in border clashes in recent years.
