During a visit by a delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Water Resources to Turkmenistan, discussions focused on modernizing water infrastructure, implementing flood control measures, reinforcing riverbanks along the Amu Darya River, and ensuring the rational use of water resources.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the Tuyamuyun Hydro Complex, where both sides explored ways to enhance its operational efficiency. They also committed to joint hydraulic engineering measures to prevent water losses and optimize the Amu Darya River’s flow.

The cooperation between the countries has been strengthened in recent years, with the trade turnover reached $1.14bn in 2024, marking a 5.5% increase compared to the previous year. The cooperation is expected to further bolster bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, considering their recent agreement on a free trade regime, signed in February 2025.
