Turkmenistan national team arrives in France to participate in 2024 Paris Olympic

Representatives from Turkmenistan have arrived in Paris on July 24, as the city gears up to host the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games. The delegation, which includes 19 members, is set to participate in a range of sports, showcasing the nation’s athletic talent on one of the world’s biggest stages, as it was informed by news agency Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

Among the delegation are six athletes who will compete in four sports: judo, weightlifting, swimming, and athletics. The judo team features Serdar Rahimov, competing in the up to 66 kg weight category, and Maysa Pardaeva, who will compete in the up to 57 kg weight category. Weightlifter Davranbek Hasanbaev will represent Turkmenistan in the up to 102 kg weight category.

In swimming, Turkmenistan’s Musa Zhalaev will compete in the 100 meters freestyle, while Aynura Primova will participate in the 100-meter backstroke. The athletics team includes Valentina Meredova, who will run in the 100-meter dash.

The opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics is scheduled for July 26, with nearly 10,000 athletes from over 200 national Olympic committees participating in the event. Competitions will feature 329 sets of medals across 32 sports. The 2024 Games will be marked by the mascots, red Phrygian caps named Frigi, symbolizing the French Republic.

Turkmenistan’s last appearance at the Olympics was in Tokyo three years ago, where the country won its first-ever Olympic medal. Weightlifter Polina Guryeva secured a silver medal in the up to 59 kg weight category, marking a significant achievement for the nation.
