Flooding consequences being removed in Cholpon-Ata

Mudlfow debris are being removed in Cholpon-Ata city and nearby territories on August 12.

120 people, including 60 rescuers, 20 Defense Ministry’s soldiers, 30 representatives of the Issyk-Kul district civil protection service, are involved in the cleanup works using special equipment.

Baktuu-Dolonotu village was mostly affected by the floods. As a result of the overflowing of the river Baktuu-Dolonotu, over 60 homes located alongside the river were flooded. 

Baktuu-Dolonotu and Bosteri villages have recently joined Cholpon-Ata city. An emergency situation was declared in the city following floods. 

Cholpon-Ata and Bosteri village are popular tourist destinations during the summer beach season in Issyk-Kul. Hundreds of guest houses and resorts are located in these places.
