A Chinese investor plans to invest $250mn to construct a modern complex over 55 hectares in the city of Babur, Andijan region. The project will feature a business center, hotel, shopping malls, and residential buildings with 3,000 apartments.

The announcement was made during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to the region, where he met with representatives of foreign companies aiming to implement investment projects in Andijan.

At the meeting, the president was also briefed on the region’s growing renewable energy plans. This year, 763 small and micro hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 24 megawatts are expected to be commissioned in the region, with an additional 20 megawatts planned for next year. 

A Chinese company is also preparing to start manufacturing equipment for these micro hydropower stations locally. The newly built plants will be provided with free maintenance for one year.

The president emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with investors and instructed officials to expand investment opportunities, provide necessary support, and ensure favorable conditions for business operations.

This meeting concluded the president’s working trip to Andijan. He has since returned to Tashkent.
