Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the UK, Ravshan Usmanov met with Nitin Kapoor, Deputy Head of Production Expansion at AstraZeneca, to discuss cooperation between Uzbekistan and the British-Swedish pharmaceutical and biotechnology company.
Nitin Kapoor provided an overview of AstraZeneca’s global activities and highlighted ongoing research initiatives aimed at developing innovative treatments for major diseases, including oncology, cardiovascular conditions, and respiratory disorders. Kapoor emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding its operations in Uzbekistan, leveraging the country’s growing pharmaceutical industry.
Ambassador Usmanov, in turn, discussed the extensive reforms underway in Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical sector, which aim to attract foreign investment and boost local production capabilities. He outlined the advantages offered to foreign investors, including the commissioning of new production facilities and a favorable business environment. These reforms are expected to create a conducive atmosphere for AstraZeneca to further expand its presence in the country.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to continue strengthening bilateral relations through future meetings and visits, signaling a promising collaboration between Uzbekistan and AstraZeneca.
