A decree of the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated April 26, 2025 was adopted on the signing of an Agreement with the government of Tajikistan on cooperation in the field of electric power, Zakon.kz reports.
The agreement is aimed at promoting projects that can help achieve goals and priorities, as well as fulfill the obligations of the parties in the field of energy security, transition to environmentally friendly technologies and reduction of emissions.
The document stipulates that all available measures will be taken to organize hourly metering of electrical energy on the border of Tajikistan with the energy systems of Central Asia and on the border of Kazakhstan with the energy systems of Central Asia.
The Tajik side will ensure the transmission of telemetric information via interstate power lines connecting the energy systems of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan to the system operator of the Republic of Kazakhstan represented by JSC «Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company» (JSC «KEGOC»).
It is also stated that the supply of planned electrical energy from Tajikistan to Kazakhstan is carried out at the interface between the balance sheet of the networks of the energy system of Kazakhstan and the energy systems of the Central Asian countries along interstate power lines specified in the purchase agreement for the purchase of planned electrical energy transmitted from Tajikistan to Kazakhstan.
In particular, it is planned to supply planned electrical energy from OJSC «Rogunskaya HPP», which will be carried out exclusively during hours of planned shortage in the North-South zone of the Unified Electric Power System of Kazakhstan.
Validity of the agreement – 20 years from the date of entry into force of the Treaty with the possibility of extension for 10 years. The cost of planned electrical energy will be $0.034 per 1 kWh (including VAT paid at the zero 0% rate) to the amount of volumes in accordance with the approved daily schedules for the supply of electrical energy.
The resolution comes into force from the date of its signing.
