Issue of Kemin landfill raised at Cabinet deputy’s meeting with local population
During a meeting of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov with Kemin district residents on August 19, the issue of Kemin city’s landfill was raised.
City council member Natalia Dubinina highlighted that residents struggle to open their windows due to the nearby landfill’s unpleasant odor and smoke. The landfill is close to a school, a kindergarten, and a private oil depot, exacerbating the problem with carbon monoxide.
Dubinina urged regional authorities to relocate the landfill, noting that previous attempts to address the issue were unsuccessful. Residents also reported frequent fires at the landfill, which threaten nearby homes and infrastructure.
Representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers promised to look into these issues.
