Uzbekistan has delivered a fresh batch of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the Surkhandarya regional administration announced.
Acting on the instructions of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a convoy carrying 183 tons of essential food products was sent to the Balkh region as a gesture of solidarity and goodwill from the Uzbek people. The aid includes flour, rice, sugar, pasta, confectionery, vegetable oil, instant food, red beans, and mung beans.
The handover ceremony took place at the Astras company facility in Hairaton and was attended by senior officials from both countries. Among them were Ismatulla Ergashev, the President’s Special Representative for Afghanistan; Ulugbek Kasimov, Governor of Surkhandarya Region; and Noorul Hadi Abu Idris, Deputy Governor of Balkh Region.
Afghan officials expressed their gratitude to President Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan for the continued humanitarian support and extended their Eid al-Adha greetings.
This latest delivery adds to a series of aid efforts by Uzbekistan. In March, over 200 tons of food aid were sent for Nowruz and Ramadan. In April, Governor Kasimov personally led another humanitarian convoy to Afghanistan. In December 2024, a “Health” train and medical assistance were dispatched, while earlier aid was delivered following the 2022 earthquake.
