Tajikistan’s capital will become the epicenter of the regional textile industry as it hosts the First International Textile Forum and Specialized Equipment Exhibition from July 8-10. The event will bring together leading experts, manufacturers, and investors from dozens of countries to explore the future of textile development across Central Asia.
On June 20, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan (MoINT) held a briefing to outline preparations for the upcoming event.
Venues and organizers
The forum and exhibition will take place across two venues: Hyatt Regency Dushanbe and Dushanbe Exhibition Center
The event is organized by a MoINT under the support of the Government of Tajikistan.
Akmal Sharipov, Head of the MoINT Department of Light Industry and Sericulture, says the goal is to position Tajikistan as a promising textile manufacturing hub, showcase local capacities, and attract foreign investors and strategic partners.
Key themes: innovation, investment, and integration
Over 200 delegates from more than 50 countries are expected, ranging from representatives of global brands to government institutions and research bodies.
Forum discussions will focus on development of raw materials through cotton farming, adoption of innovative technologies, quality standard enhancement, and integration into global supply chains
Sustainability, export potential, and modernization will receive special attention. Under the National Development Strategy 2040, Tajikistan plans to implement a cluster model and comprehensively upgrade production facilities.
Currently, over 18,000 people are employed in Tajikistan’s textile sector, which includes 500+ enterprises spanning the entire value chain—from cotton cultivation to final garment production.
Organizers emphasize that the textile industry is seen as a key pillar of the national economy, with high potential for exports and foreign investment. Since independence, around US$800 million has been invested in the sector.
Successful joint ventures with China, Turkiye, South Korea, and Italy are already operating in the country, and global interest in the “Made in Tajikistan” label is on the rise.
