Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin is paying an official visit to Kyrgyzstan from June 30 to July 1, following an invitation from his Kyrgyz counterpart Jeenbek Kulubayev, according to Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, the foreign ministers will hold talks to discuss key issues concerning Kyrgyz-Tajik cooperation.

The visit comes just days after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Bishkek on June 28–29 for high-level talks with Kulubayev.  That visit reportedly focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in political, economic, investment, and cultural spheres.

The Tajik-Kyrgyz visit follows a landmark event earlier this year: On March 12–13, 2025, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan paid a state visit to Kyrgyzstan, resulting in the historic signing of a long-awaited border agreement with President Sadyr Japarov.  The deal resolved one of the most sensitive and long-standing issues in bilateral relations — the demarcation and delimitation of the border.

In a symbolic gesture of reconciliation, both presidents participated via video link in the ceremonial opening of two new border checkpoints.

The summit also included discussions on economic, energy, and agricultural cooperation, with several agreements signed.

Both leaders hailed the border agreement as a “historic and fateful” milestone in Tajik-Kyrgyz relations, paving the way for enhanced trust and regional stability.
