Kazakhstan has launched a large-scale program to assess the condition of hydraulic structures, aimed at increasing their safety and preventing potential emergency situations. A key role in this work is played by the RSE «Kazvodkhoz» under the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, as well as local executive bodies.
Currently, specialists «Kazvodkhoz» are conducting detailed multifactorial surveys of 29 strategically important objects. At the same time, safety declarations are being developed for 42 hydraulic structures, which is an important step to formalize and confirm their reliability. At the same time, regional akimats are inspecting 19 hydraulic structures. To date, inspections have already been completed at three sites in the Akmola, Mangistau and Pavlodar regions, while work continues in the East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan and North Kazakhstan regions.
These activities are part of a broader strategy enshrined in the Integrated Water Industry Development Plan. This year alone, regional authorities plan to conduct an inspection of 105 hydraulic structures. The program will cover ten regions of the country: Akmola, Aktobe, Almaty, Zhambyl, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Mangistau, Pavlodar and North Kazakhstan.
A multifactorial examination is a comprehensive diagnosis that allows you to obtain an objective picture of the technical condition of the object, including its main structures and equipment. Based on the results of such an inspection, specialists determine the degree of wear, identify hidden defects and create a list of necessary repair work to maintain the structure in a safe and operational condition. By the end of 2028, it is planned to conduct such an audit at 557 facilities throughout the country. It is worth noting that last year the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation already surveyed 84 sites in 14 regions, exceeding the original targets.
