In Dushanbe, starting from September 1 of this year, the number of public transport – buses, trolleybuses and minibuses – will be increased by 20%, the company "Dushanbenakliyetkhadamotrason" told Asia-Plus.
The agency explained that such a decision is made annually on the eve of the new school year, since the number of passengers increases significantly with the start of classes for students.
According to the source, with the start of the new school year, public transport in the capital will be increased to the following volumes:
– 380 buses instead of the current 308;
– 65 trolleybuses instead of 41;
– 1100 minibuses instead of 950.
The ministry added that the new minibuses will be directed to routes with the highest passenger traffic.
At the same time, due to the repair of the central roads, the trolleybus route No. 1 has been temporarily suspended.
The source noted that the number of taxis provided for under the established quota of 12,000 has not yet been reached.
"Currently, 10 thousand 500 taxis are operating in the capital. In September, their number will increase by another 500," reported the "Dushanbenakliyetkhadamotrason".
According to the agency, 60 electric buses and 8 electric routes are currently running on urban routes. It is planned that by the end of the year their total number will reach 90 units.
It should be noted that residents of Dushanbe have been expressing concern about the lack of public transport on some routes for many years. Every year, with the start of the school year and the onset of cold weather, the situation becomes even more complicated.
