President Mirziyoyev also highlighted the country’s economic advancements, citing World Bank forecasts of a 5.3% GDP growth this year and the International Monetary Fund’s prediction that Uzbekistan’s GDP will exceed $100bn. He emphasized that these achievements are the result of dedicated reforms and the guiding principle of improving the lives of citizens.

The leader of the country announced increases in pensions, benefits, and wages for various sectors, including healthcare and education. He praised the Initiative Budget project, which empowers citizens to decide on the allocation of funds for local development, noting the substantial investment of UZS 11 trillion ($870mn) in over 13,000 projects.

Environmental protection and sustainable development were key themes in the President’s address. He stressed the importance of modern water management systems and the Yashil Makon program, which includes efforts to reforest the dry bed of the Aral Sea. These initiatives aim to combat regional dust and salt spread, contributing to environmental preservation.

The speech also celebrated Uzbekistan’s achievements in sports. He extended his congratulations to the Olympians and Paralympians who brought pride to the nation with their remarkable performances.

“We are a large nation of 37mn. Today, Uzbekistan is among the 40 largest countries in the world in terms of population. With our reforms, labor, knowledge, and talent, we must turn this figure into powerful potential,” President Mirziyoyev emphasized Uzbekistan’s demographic strength.

He highlighted the need to focus on creative industries, given the country’s limited access to the sea.

Looking ahead, President Mirziyoyev outlined several priorities, including ongoing democratic reforms, modernization of the Armed Forces, and fostering a peaceful and stable society. He stressed the need for a robust education system and equal opportunities for women and girls, urging parents to support the educational aspirations of their daughters.
