Vice mayor of Bishkek explains increase of tariffs for elevator service
The mayor’s office of Bishkek annually replaces 100 elevators in residential houses, vice mayor Ramiz Aliyev said during a press tour.
According to him, there are 966 elevators on the balance of Bishkekgorlift, and more than half of them should be replaced. At the moment, 53 elevators are put into operation, 21 more are about to be installed. By the end of this year, 26 more elevators are planned to be installed, Aliyev noted.
He also reminded that the tariff for elevator has been raised since August 2024. The previous tariff was 3.12 soms, and after increase it made 8.31 soms for 1 sq. m [apartments].
“The tariff has not increased since 2009. This caused a staffing problem. Specialists work in Gorlift since the time of the Soviet Union. Young people don’t come because of a low salary. After the tariff increase, employees’ salaries were also raised and now it is about 40 thousand soms,” Aliyev said.
After increase in the price of the elevators, the Gorlift undertakes a number of commitments: annual technical and emergency services, insurance, repair work, major repairs, introduction of dispatching (within 5 years), installation of surveillance cameras (within 5 years).
According to Aliyev, the new elevators are supplied from Mogilev (Belarus). The cost of one elevator is $12 thousand [$1 million 29 thousand at current rate]. It will cost about 2 million soms with customs clearance and installation.
After the upgrade, the elevator will be transferred to the balance of housing cooperative.
