Talas policemen and local residents rooted for judoka Erlan Sherov during his fight in the Olympic Games in Paris on July 31. 

Sherov started men’s up 90 kg judo fight’s 1/16 finals with a golden score win over 5-time Panamerican champion Iván Felipe Silva Morales of Cuba.

Sherov is now advancing to 1/8 finals, where he is set to meet Tristani Mosakhlishvili of Spain.
