Life in rural Kyrgyzstan: German man studying soil in Batken
Philip Schirning from Germany lives in Batken, reports a Turmush correspondent. The foreigner arrived in Kyrgyzstan about 3 months ago with his family.
Previously, he had visited Kyrgyzstan twice but had not ventured so far into the country. Currently, he lives in the village of Kara-Bulak with his wife and son. He is getting to know the local people and attending Kyrgyz celebrations.
“I came from Germany through my university. I’m studying the local soil, as apricots grow well here. Additionally, corn and clover are planted under the apricot trees. They help each other grow well. I’m studying the soil with the help of special equipment and took soil samples,” said Philip.
He noted that Batken has become associated for him with the friendliness of the people and the great variety of vegetation.
“Batken is the most remote region in Kyrgyzstan. But it stands out for its uniqueness: apricots, minerals, mountains of different shades, and the Aigul flower. People always try to help me, even if they don’t understand the language. There are also quite a few people who speak English or German.
I have been here for 2.5 months. Our stay ends in November. Before that, we plan to go to Jalal-Abad region. I was in Kyrgyzstan earlier in March and October 2023. This time, we are staying longer than usual. During this time, we have made friends and attended celebrations,” said Schirning.
