Construction work is actively continuing at the Karakul hydroelectric power station, owned by OJSC «Chakan HPP». The hydroelectric power station is located on the Kara-Suu River near the city of Karakul. The planned capacity of the station will be 18 MW. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan.
The investor and general contractor of the project is LLC «Zhagalmay». On June 16, 2023, an investment agreement for the construction of a small hydroelectric power station was signed between OJSC «Karakul hydroelectric power station» and LLC «Zhagalmay».
The contract for the manufacture and supply of main equipment (turbine, generator) was concluded with the well-known company GLOBAL Hydro Energy GmbH.
The feasibility study and development of the working project is carried out by LLC «NK GROUP». To ensure construction with inert materials (crushed stone and sand), a crushing and sorting facility with a capacity of 400 tons per hour was organized. In addition, a concrete plant with a capacity of 90 m³/hour was built.
To date, the following work has been completed:
- The on-farm road project has been completed, road work and bank protection measures have been completed;
- The bypass channel project has been completed;
- Construction and installation work of the head water intake unit has been completed;
- A working design for a pressure water conduit has been developed;
- The supply of metal, installation of formwork, reinforcement and concreting of curved and outlet pipes, as well as a settling tank, have been completed;
- Concreting of the compensator room was performed;
- The 35 kV overhead line «Ice», which falls under the hydroelectric power station building, has been moved.
Current works:
- Manufacturing and installation of pressure pipeline sections;
- Concreting of the first tier of the hydroelectric power station building, including the foundation slab to 718,900.
All construction and installation work is carried out in accordance with the schedule of the investment agreement. Completion of construction is planned for the first half of 2026.
