In Kyrgyzstan, at the Toktogul hydroelectric power station, a key facility of the country’s energy infrastructure, work has begun on the reconstruction of the hydraulic unit №3. This process, as reported by OJSC «National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan», inevitably leads to a temporary decrease in the volume of electricity generation in the republic. Currently, out of four hydraulic units of the station, only three are operating, which creates an additional load on the energy system and increases the risk of electricity shortages.
In the current conditions, energy workers appeal to the population and all electricity consumers with an urgent request to show maximum savings in the use of electricity. Rational consumption of energy resources during repair work will minimize the risks of power outages and ensure the stable functioning of the country’s energy system. This is especially important in the context of the growing human influence on the environment, when every kilowatt-hour matters not only for the economy, but also for the environment.
It is expected that upon completion of the reconstruction of the hydraulic unit №3, the capacity of the Toktogul hydroelectric power station will increase by 60 megawatts. Thus, the total capacity of the station will reach 1440 megawatts.
