Boxing becomes Kyrgyzstan’s third sport with Olympic medal
Kyrgyzstani boxer Munarbek Seiitbek uulu won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics.
Competing in the under 57 kg weight class, he secured 2nd place after victories over athletes from Cuba, the USA, and Bulgaria.
This medal is the first in the history of Kyrgyz boxing at the Olympics. The previous best result for Kyrgyzstani boxers was a quarterfinal finish by Almaz Rayimkulov at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Boxing is now the third sport in which Kyrgyzstan has won Olympic medals, following wrestling (11 medals) and judo (1 medal).
For the first time, Kyrgyzstani athletes have won medals in two different sports at a single Olympic Games.
