Sub-regional Coordinator of International Organization for Migration completes mission in Kyrgyzstan

Sub-regional Coordinator of the International Organization for Migration for Central Asia Zeinal Gadzhiev is completing his mission in Kyrgyzstan. He met with Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev.

The parties discussed issues and trends in the development of the migration situation in the region and the country, the Foreign Ministry reported.

Kulubayev outlined Kyrgyzstan’s priorities in the field of migration policy. According to him, the state creates conditions for labor migration, strengthens the system for protecting rights and interests of citizens abroad. Kyrgyzstan focuses on streamlining immigration, the issue of refugees in Kyrgyzstan, as well as issues of ensuring their social and legal protection in the country.

Zeinal Gadzhiev emphasized the role of Kyrgyzstan in the adoption of legislative acts in protecting the rights and interests of migrants, as well as their implementation.

The sides expressed hope for continuing close cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the IOM.
