208 children undergo cochlear implantation surgery in Kyrgyzstan

208 children with hearing disability have undergone cochlear implantation surgery in Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Health reports.

Children who underwent cochlear implantation surgery at the National Maternal and Child Health Care Center went to school in September, the Ministry notes.

These children were chosen by a special committee. They underwent a set of examinations, cochlear implantation surgeries, and rehabilitation.

Cochlear implantation surgery was started back in 2018 by the Lenhard Foundation. They have performed a total of 40 such surgeries. With the support of the Awqaf Foundation (Qatar), a total of 168 surgeries have been performed since 2021.
