The commencement of two major green energy projects in the Shieli district of the Kyzylorda Region in southern Kazakhstan has been marked by support from the Head of the region and foreign investors.
The construction of a solar power plant by the Chinese company Huadian Haitou has officially started. This facility, valued at KZT 11.5bn ($23.7mn), is expected to generate 40 MW of power and will create 20 new jobs for local residents.
In addition, the presentation ceremony for a wind power plant by Uranus Wind LLP was held. This project, valued at KZT 16.5bn ($33.97mn), will have a capacity of 50 MW and is anticipated to provide over 10 job opportunities during its construction.
Currently, the Kyzylorda Region is home to nine operational solar power plants, contributing a combined capacity of 89 MW. With the implementation of these two new projects, the region’s total green energy capacity is set to rise to 179 MW by 2025.
“These initiatives will not only meet the region’s electricity demand but also support the development of new industrial projects,” noted Ardak Zebeshev, Deputy Akim of Kyzylorda Region, in a LinkedIn post.
