A delegation led by Shuhrat Otajonov, Director of the National Center, held discussions with Chinese counterparts, culminating in a visit to the Menoble enterprise, part of the China Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences (CAAMS). The delegation reviewed the plant’s production of cotton seeders and harvesters.

Following the visit, Uzbekistan’s Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization and the Cotton Breeding, Seed Production and Agrotechnologies Research Institute signed an agreement with CAAMS. The deal includes plans to establish the largest agricultural machinery assembly plant in Central Asia, with a $10mn investment.

The project is expected to equip Uzbek farmers with modern machinery, boost agricultural productivity, and reduce reliance on imported equipment. The center anticipates that the local production of advanced agricultural machinery will accelerate the modernization of the sector.

In addition, the Uzbek delegation visited the Institute of Agricultural Research in Zhengzhou, China, to discuss potential collaboration with the National Reference Laboratory of Cotton Growing, led by Professor Li Fuguang.

The laboratory specializes in developing pest-resistant cotton varieties through genetic engineering by incorporating Bt toxin-producing genes. The parties agreed to explore cooperation in hybrid cotton seed development using Bt genes.

Earlier, Chinese investors have announced multiple projects in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara region, including an LED lamp production plant and a 4-star hotel. A delegation led by Deputy Khokim Rizo Asadov visited Shenzhen, Zhongshan, and Shenyang to attract investments, holding discussions with Chinese business leaders and government officials.

Key agreements include a $10mn deal with Qitong Tea for tea plantations and production, as well as a $10mn investment by Highclass Solar Light to establish an LED lamp facility and a hotel. Guangdong Chant Group plans to implement a cogeneration system for a 5,000-apartment residential complex. Other initiatives involve Taili Group’s training academy and marketing platform, Yoye Wisdom’s textile production for European exports, and Lesso’s participation in the construction sector.

China remained Uzbekistan’s top trade partner in early 2025, with trade turnover reaching $2.08bn. Though slightly lower than $2.12bn in 2024, it remains significantly higher than $1.33bn in 2023, accounting for 19.2% of Uzbekistan’s total trade.
