The investment volume between Kazakhstan and Slovenia has reached $200mn, reflecting a growing economic relationship between the two nations. This was highlighted during expanded-format talks between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar in Astana, with both sides emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation.
President Tokayev welcomed the Slovenian delegation, reaffirming Kazakhstan’s commitment to furthering its ties with Slovenia, describing the country as a “time-tested and reliable partner” in Europe.
“Your visit is extremely important, as it gives additional impetus to enhancing our mutual cooperation,” said Tokayev. “We expressed our joint commitment to achieving positive results in terms of mutual cooperation. For us, Slovenia is a time-tested and reliable partner in Europe. We will do our utmost to achieve practical results.”
The Kazakh President stressed several promising areas of collaboration, particularly in business and investment. He expressed a strong commitment to creating favorable conditions for Slovenian companies, focusing on transparent regulations, investment protection, and economic diversification. President Tokayev also highlighted the upcoming Kazakh-Slovenian Business Forum in Astana, aimed at further boosting trade and investment between the two countries.
In response, President Pirc Musar thanked President Tokayev for the warm reception, emphasizing the shared goal of enhancing economic ties.
“This visit is intended to contribute to deepening economic cooperation. Both our countries share this goal,” she said. “The volume of trade between our countries is increasing every year. We have reached an investment volume of $200mn, but the opportunities are much broader.”
The talks covered a wide array of topics, including trade, transport and logistics, critical minerals, digitalization, artificial intelligence, healthcare, and tourism. Both leaders expressed confidence that these sectors hold significant growth potential.
Following the discussions, the two presidents adopted a Joint Statement and oversaw the exchange of several key documents, including:
- A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Slovenia in the field of education and science.
- A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Economy, Tourism, and Sports of Slovenia on tourism cooperation.
- A Memorandum of Understanding between the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia.
