The majority of these new positions have emerged in key sectors such as agriculture, construction, services, and among self-employed individuals.

“From January through mid-May, 1.1mn new jobs were officially recorded nationwide,” Amanniyazova said.

She explained that the job figures are verified through a rigorous process:

“When an employer hires workers, employment contracts are registered in the Unified National Labor System. Additionally, employers submit monthly reports on income and social tax payments for these employees by the 15th of the following month. Only jobs confirmed by these tax reports are counted as new. This system is fully integrated with mehnat.uz and tax authorities’ databases, eliminating any human error or manipulation.”

The Labor Inspectorate is also actively working to reduce informal employment by bringing unofficial workers into the formal labor market.

Since February 2025, inspectors have legalized the status of nearly 23,000 informal workers nationwide. These legalizations have predominantly taken place in construction, manufacturing, catering, and service sectors.

Inspection representatives are actively informing enterprise managers about the risks and negative impacts of illegal employment. Meanwhile, workers whose status has been formalized are continuously monitored through a dedicated program to prevent any return to informal or unauthorized work.
