Kazakhstan is set to undergo a significant transformation of its railway infrastructure over the next five years, according to a report by Railway Supply. The plan outlines the modernization of over 180 railway stations by 2030, aimed at enhancing the country’s transportation network.

The modernization program includes the construction of new railway sections, alongside the expansion and reconstruction of existing facilities. Key initiatives involve the development of additional passing loops, arrival-departure tracks, and dispatcher sidings. Additionally, existing tracks will be extended, and previously dismantled tracks will be restored.

The overarching goal of this project is to improve the efficiency and reliability of Kazakhstan’s railway transport, which is expected to lead to better service quality and increased network capacity.

Earlier, Daryo reported that Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) has reported a significant increase in container shipments through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) for 2024. Container shipments from China via this route grew 14 times in 7M24 compared to the same period in 2023. This surge in transit volume is attributed to strategic improvements designed to enhance route efficiency.
