A Trading House of Uzbekistan for construction materials opened in Dushanbe

On January 7, a Trading House of Uzbekistan for construction materials opened in Dushanbe, aiming to increase exports of construction materials and foster trade relations between entrepreneurs of the two countries, Tajikistan’s state-run news agency Khovar reported.

The opening ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, representatives of the Uzbek Embassy in Dushanbe, and the Uzpromstroymaterialy Association.

Guests explored the facilities and offerings of the Trading House, including products and prices.  Business meetings between entrepreneurs from both countries were also held as part of the event.

Mehroj Botirov, Head of the External Economic Relations Department of the Uzpromstroymaterialy Association, noted in his speech that Tajikistan ranks second in importing construction materials from Uzbekistan.

“In 2024, Uzbekistan exported US$115 million worth of construction materials to Tajikistan, including metal products, cement, ceramics, dry construction mixes, pipes, and PVC profiles,” Botirov added.

The Uzpromstroymaterialy Association plans to double exports to Tajikistan in 2025 and open new trading houses in other regions, including Sughd province and the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

Three years ago, a "Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Trading House" was established in Dushanbe to simplify work for entrepreneurs, assist in finding buyers, and expand the production activities of Uzbek enterprises in the Tajik market.  It also serves as a showroom for exhibitions and fairs featuring Uzbek products.
