On January 22, Tajikistan is expected to experience unstable weather, with rain and wet snow in the valleys and predominantly snow in the mountainous and high-altitude regions.
From January 21 to 23, there will be a heightened risk of avalanches and rockfalls.
Avalanche-prone areas include the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), the mountains of the Hisor Range, and highways such as Dushanbe-Chanak, Dushanbe-Khorog, Dushanbe-Lakhsh, Khorog-Murgab, and Khorog-Ishkashim, the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan warns.
Mobile posts staffed by Emergencies Committee rescuers, police officers, and road service personnel of the Branch of Innovative Road Solutions (IRS) LTD in Tajikistan, which operates the toll on the Dushanbe-Chanak highway, are operational on this highway. These posts ensure round-the-clock safety for drivers and passengers, according to the Emergencies Committee.
However, the Committee strongly advises residents and visitors to avoid long trips, especially to mountainous areas. Activities like hunting, fishing, or collecting firewood near avalanche-prone zones are also discouraged.
The Emergencies Committee emphasizes the importance of following safety precautions and avoiding dangerous areas.
In case of emergencies, individuals can contact 112 or the hotlines: (+992) 93 880 28 19 or 223 13 11.
Additionally, citizens are encouraged to install the Emergencies Committee’s mobile application "SOS," which provides guidance on emergency response actions.
