Tajikistan and ADB are discussing support for the Rogun hydroelectric power station project in Milan

The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, led by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Khokim Kholikzod, takes part in the 58th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which began its work on May 4 in Milan (Italy). This was reported by NIAT «Khovar» with reference to the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan.

As part of the first day of the meeting, the delegation of Tajikistan held meetings with the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank Ingmin Young, the Director General of the Department of Central and Western Asia Evgeny Zhukov, as well as the Executive Director of the ADB Vikas Shil.

During the meetings, various aspects of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the ADB support project for the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power station. The Bank reaffirmed its readiness to allocate $500 million for the implementation of this important project, which will make a significant contribution to the «green» development of not only Tajikistan, but also neighboring countries.

The delegation also participated in the consultative session of the Asian Development Fund, which mobilizes resources from various sources for the implementation of grant projects in least developed and developing countries. Tajikistan is one of the largest recipients of grants from this fund.

The Asian Development Bank is one of the key partners in the development of Tajikistan.
