Tajik, Iranian presidents hold talks in Azerbaijan  on the sidelines of ECO summit to discuss cooperation

On July 4, in the city of Khankendi, Republic of Azerbaijan, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, held a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit.

The Tajik president’s official website reports that during the talks, the two leaders discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and key issues on the summit agenda.

President Rahmon reportedly reaffirmed Tajikistan's commitment to strengthening and expanding multifaceted relations with Iran.

President Rahmon conveyed sincere condolences on behalf of the Tajik people and government to the Iranian nation over the recent events in Iran.

Both sides noted their satisfaction with the current level of bilateral relations and their ongoing development. They also agreed on the importance of continuing the implementation of agreements reached during previous high-level meetings.

The operation of the Sangtuda-2 Hydropower Plant (HPP) was highlighted as a successful example of Tajik-Iranian collaboration and a model for future joint projects.

The two leaders reportedly also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation.
