Tajikistan has launched the first and only tourist hotline of its kind in Central Asia. Operating since February 2025, the hotline is an initiative by Tajikistan’s Committee for Tourism Development in partnership with various government agencies, all ready to provide assistance to tourists.
The hotline consolidates specialists from multiple services: the prosecutor’s office, police, border and customs services, and consular representatives. Tourists can receive free and fast assistance on any issues they encounter during their travels — whether it’s crossing the border, visa issues, transportation problems, or simply finding necessary local information.
Tourists can call or message the number +992 118-200-200 Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Outside of working hours, messages are accepted through WhatsApp or Telegram, and specialists will respond promptly.
Since its launch, dozens of tourists from around the world have reached out to the hotline, receiving help in a variety of situations. Here are some stories behind these calls.
When help arrives just in time
One of the recent cases occurred this month in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO). A tourist from Turkiye was traveling solo through the picturesque Pamir Mountains on a motorcycle. However, near the Kharghush Pass, he lost control, and his heavy motorcycle fell on his leg. He was alone, disoriented, and suffering from pain.
The only way out was to call the hotline. The tourist provided his coordinates and sent the following message:
“I can’t free myself, my leg is under the motorcycle. I had an accident, I am alone, and I am in pain. There was a military barracks 10 km away. I’m not severely injured, but please, come and get me quickly.”
Emergency responders from the Emergencies Committee and Tourism Police were immediately dispatched. Within hours, the tourist was found, freed, and given first aid. He was then escorted to the border post and assisted in safely continuing his journey to Kyrgyzstan.
Despite the incident, the tourist remained in high spirits, praising his trip and especially the swift and attentive assistance he received.
Support starts before arrival
The hotline also assists tourists before they even set foot in the country. For example, three tourists from the UK reached out for help before entering Tajikistan. They were having trouble processing their visas and couldn’t figure out the paperwork.
The Tourism Police helped them with all the necessary documents, and they successfully arrived in Tajikistan. Later, they recorded a thank-you video, expressing how impressed they were with the level of care provided to tourists.
The hotline not only supports individual travelers but also helps tour groups. Tour operators such as Silkway Adventure, Orient Adventure, Javohir Sair, Marko Polo, and Wild Frontiers Adventure Travel actively use this service to assist their clients in unforeseen situations.

The tourist hotline ensures safety and comfort for every traveler. Even in the most remote areas of the country, you can be confident that help is always nearby.
