EBRD and ICB back green technology development in Tajikistan

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in cooperation with the Investment and Credit Bank (ICB) of Tajikistan, has extended a US$1.2 million loan to Fortuna Co. Group to support a green modernization initiative aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing energy efficiency.

The funding will support the implementation of a wide-ranging green program, including:

  • Installation of a 218 kW solar power plant;
  • Purchase of electric mini trucks and passenger vehicles;
  • Installation of automated painting and polishing equipment.

The project aims to increase the company's operational efficiency through energy-saving technologies, process automation, and reduced emissions of CO₂ and harmful chemicals, while promoting sustainable business practices.

As part of its “Advice for Small Businesses” program, the EBRD also provided Fortuna Co. with technical assistance to hire consultants and implement a variety of improvement projects.  These included:

  • Conducting an energy audit;
  • Installing solar panels;
  • Optimizing sales operations;
  • Enhancing financial reporting and accounting;
  • Introducing a quality management system;
  • Developing a corporate website, conducting market research, and launching an online store.

Fortuna Co. specializes in the production and sale of construction materials and furniture, operating under brands such as “Archa”, Silkcoat boya, and “Archa Furniture.”

 To date, the EBRD has invested around €1 billion in Tajikistan's economy across 184 projects, making it one of the country’s key partners in promoting sustainable economic development.
