Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda called on representatives of Column Bank (USA) to facilitate the establishment of correspondent relations with banks of the republic, including the opening of direct correspondent accounts, the press service of the Tajik regulator reports.
This proposal was announced at a virtual meeting of the NBT head with representatives of the American bank, which took place "on the initiative and with the support of the Embassy of Tajikistan in the United States and the U.S. Business Council."
Tolibzoda noted that the country has established a legal framework and the necessary conditions to ensure strict compliance with international standards, including the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF).
"During the meeting, the parties, referring to the friendly relations and constant partnership between the Republic of Tajikistan and the United States for more than 30 years of state independence, noted that there are still many opportunities for the implementation of joint investment projects in various sectors of the economy. The parties also exchanged views on the reforms of the country's banking system," the statement said.
The parties expressed hope that the results of the meeting would contribute to the expansion of cooperation between the banking systems of Tajikistan and the United States and the establishment of new financial ties.
Column Bank (Column N.A.) was founded in 2022 and is based in San Francisco. According to the NBT, it is the national bank of the United States, created specifically for developers who create and manage financial products programmatically. The bank has its own platform, basic banking systems and is connected directly to the Federal Reserve System.
