Bayraktar discussed the transportation of Turkmen gas to Turkey through Iran and Azerbaijan. He noted that there is no need for notable investments in gas delivery infrastructure, and Turkmenistan could export 1.5-2.0 bn cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey annually.

In March, Turkey signed a Declaration of Intent on Cooperation with Turkmenistan in the Field of Natural Gas and Hydrocarbons. An agreement on the supply of Turkmen gas to Turkey was signed in June.

Bayraktar also mentioned Turkey’s ongoing efforts to secure contracts for liquefied natural gas (LNG) purchases for 2027-2037. Turkey consumes about 50 bn cubic meters of gas per year and has five LNG terminals and an extensive gas pipeline network.
