Iran’s non-oil trade with Turkmenistan saw a notable increase in 4M24 (March 20 – July 21), as per the latest data from Iran’s Customs Administration. The trade turnover between Iran and Turkmenistan reached 447,000 tons, valued at approximately $156mn. This marks a 4% increase in value and a 6% increase in weight compared to the same period last year, which recorded 422,000 tons worth about $150mn.

The exchanged goods included a diverse range of products such as agricultural and food items, industrial products, transformers, water conditioners, petrochemical products, petroleum coke, cotton, and fabrics.

In the previous Iranian year (March 21, 2023 – March 19, 2024), the non-oil trade between Iran and Turkmenistan amounted to 1.4mn tons, valued at roughly $484mn. This represented a 0.8% decrease in value but a 5.6% increase in weight compared to the prior year.

Iran’s overall trade with neighbouring countries during the same four-month period totalled 34.2mn tons, valued at $19.8bn. This indicates a 6% increase in value and a 5% increase in weight compared to the corresponding period last year.
