Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are making strides in bolstering their economic ties, as the volume of mutual trade between the two nations has surged by nearly 30% in the past year.
This development was highlighted during a recent meeting between the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Roman Sklyar, and the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Batyr Atdayev, and Baimyrat Annamammedov.
During the discussions, the officials exchanged views on the current economic situations in their respective countries and explored the status and future prospects of Kazakh-Turkmen trade and economic cooperation. The meeting also touched upon collaboration in the energy sector, a key area of interest for both nations.
Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan have been steadily expanding their trade and economic cooperation over the past few years. Notably, the volume of mutual trade between the two countries has quadrupled over the last five years. In the first six months of this year alone, trade turnover reached $237.2mn, reflecting a significant 28% growth compared to the previous year.
Roman Sklyar emphasized the strong partnership and good neighborly relations between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, expressing optimism about the future of bilateral economic cooperation. Both sides are confident that the decisions made during the meeting will further enhance the development of their relationship in various sectors of mutual interest.
